The 12th national games for persons with disabilities and 9th national special olympic games (Hong Kong)

Organised by the China Disabled Persons’ Federation and the General Administration of Sport of China, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games are China’s highest-level multi-sport events for athletes with disabilities and intellectual disabilities respectively, and will be co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in December 2025. As Hong Kong stages events at venues including Tsuen Wan Sports Centre, Cornerstone Smart Recycling is proud to support these inclusive games by enhancing on-site recycling facilities.​

To help cater for the increased footfall and waste generated during competition days, 2 smart recycling bins have been deployed at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre to collect used plastic drinking bottles and metal cans from athletes, spectators and staff. The bins feature multi-stream collection and real-time monitoring, making it easier to keep recyclables clean and properly sorted even during peak crowd flows.​

By installing smart recycling bins into a key National Games venue in Hong Kong, the project aims to provide a greener event experience while promoting equal access to sustainable facilities for all, including persons with disabilities. The initiative also supports the broader environmental objectives of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games, demonstrating how sports, inclusion and sustainability can go hand in hand on the national stage.
