Public Collection Point (PCP) Project​ with Food Waste Smart Bin

Installation of Food Waste Smart Bin at Green@Community – the public collection points (PCP) in Hong Kong.

The project aims to enhance community recycling and food waste collection by installing Food Waste Smart Bins and Smart Recycling Bins at designated Green@Community stations. These facilities support residents living in single-block and “three-nil” buildings (those without owners’ corporations, residents’ organizations, or property management companies), providing them with convenient and accessible waste separation and recycling options.

Self-service recycling bins make recycling accessible to marginalized groups, not limit to residents in public rental housing estates, typically lower-income and vulnerable populations, as well as reaching underserved groups, ensure equitable access to food waste recycling infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable urban waste management.

Project Highlights:

• Deployment of Food Waste Smart Bins equipped with sensor technology for efficient collection monitoring and data reporting

• Integration with the GREEN$ platform to enable residents to earn GREEN$ points when recycling, encouraging active participation and environmental awareness

• Sustainable community engagement through education and awareness programs at Green@Community stations

• Support Hong Kong’s waste reduction and resource recovery initiatives
