[ECC] Pilot Scheme on Food Waste Smart Recycling Bins in Private Housing Estates

To facilitate the Government’s initiative of expanding the food waste collection network, under the Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC) initiative, Cornerstone has been installing Food Waste Smart Bins (FWSBs) across eligible large private housing estates, aiming to promote proper food waste recycling practices and support the government’s waste reduction and resource recovery strategies.

This Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC) pilot Scheme on Food Waste Smart Recycling Bins in Private Housing Estates provides residents of private housing estates with convenient access to smart food waste recycling facilities. By leveraging IoT technology and data-driven management systems, the FWSBs encourage behavioral change towards sustainable waste handling and improve food waste collection efficiency.

Key Features:

• Installation of Food Waste Smart Bins equipped with IoT sensors, weight detection, and fill-level monitoring for real-time data collection.

• User identification through smart card scanning to ensure traceable and accountable recycling behavior.

• Automated data transmission to backend systems for analytics, reporting, and verification of recycling transactions.

• Hygienic and ergonomic design to ensure ease of use and maintain cleanliness in residential environments.

• Integration with reward platforms (such as GREEN$ or other incentive systems) to motivate ongoing participation.

• System Design and Customization: Cornerstone designed and customized the FWSB software and management platform to meet ECC’s operational and data reporting requirements.

• System Integration: The backend system integrates multiple layers — including smart bin IoT modules, secure servers, and third-party validation systems — to ensure every recycling action is authenticated, recorded, and eligible for rewards.

• Data Analytics and Monitoring: Cornerstone’s centralized platform aggregates real-time usage data, providing dashboards for tracking participation rates, collection volumes, and maintenance needs across all pilot sites.
