Signature Park serves as a vital green space in the urban landscape, providing residents around and visitors with recreational opportunities and a connection to nature. However, like many urban parks, it faces challenges related to waste management and littering. GO PARK Sports, Hong Kong’s premier sports destination, is a diverse sports park located in GO PARK Sai Sha. The recent deployment of smart bins MINI at GO PARK Sai Sha marks a significant advancement in promoting sustainability within urban environments.

Multiple stream recycling with Cornerstone

Working with our HKSAR Government to introduce progressively smart recycling facilities in the community, the Environmental Protection Department (“EPD”) has continuously introducing smart recycling bins for both residential use and public use.

• Cornerstone provides convenient recycling points for plastic bottles, metals and paper in parks, sports grounds and spectator areas, reducing litter and landfill waste.​

• Support “green sports” and low‑carbon event goals by integrating recycling into the visitor journey at major venues.​

• Demonstrate how smart recycling infrastructure can complement landscaping, leisure facilities and community use of public open space.

Technology and impact

• SmartClassify MINI’s compact design allows deployment along pathways, near courts and spectator stands without obstructing circulation, while still providing clear multi-stream recycling.​

• IoT connectivity and data collection enable operators and venue managers to monitor bin usage and optimise collection schedules, ensuring bins are available and not overflowing during peak events.​

• These leisure and sports park deployments help normalise smart recycling in everyday recreation, reinforcing green habits beyond homes and workplaces and supporting Hong Kong’s wider waste reduction strategy.
