[Extension] Choose to Reuse: Closing the Loop on Takeaway Packaging

The Highlights

As Choose to Reuse program enter the 2nd phase of Environmental and Conservation Fund, in collaboration with WWF-Hong Kong and foodpanda, Cornerstone has stationed 4 additional smart return stations at MTR Hong Kong Station in the extension project 🐼

MTR Hong Kong Station, Central

10 Food and Beverage tenants at Hong Kong Station have participated in this meaningful initiative and are now accepting reusable containers. All parties hope to shape sustainable habits among our customers and shop merchants, replacing disposable plastic tableware at MTR Shops to reusables.

Sai Ying Pun MTR station & Shun Tak Centre

Users living or working at Sai Yin Pun or Sheung Wan could easily return their reusable container(s) to the newly added collection points, anytime they go to work, during lunch or return home.

MTR Kowloon Bay Canteen

With the initiative introduced by WWF-Hong Kong and foodpanda hk, MTR Kowloon Bay Staff Canteen mark the 13th after having the 12th collection machine set up in Sheung Wan Shun Tak Centre . It is the first staff-only reusable container return station – a convenient closed loop drop-off point where employees can return their reusable food containers after use or after work.

Employees are enabled to rent various sizes of reusable containers for their takeaway meals directly from a vending machine. This makes it easy for staff to choose a durable, eco-friendly option instead of disposable packaging. Once finished, they simply return the rinsed containers to the return station next to it.

Reducing packaging waste in the workplace is a critical step in driving sustainability at scale, and this staff-only program is a key part of a broader sustainability strategy to empower employees to make more eco-friendly choices at work.
