RVM at Dormitory

Fan Garden Police Quarters

The Highlights

The project involved the installation of a Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) in the police quarters  to encourage residents to recycle beverage containers in a convenient and traceable way. The RVM provides an automated collection point where users can return empty plastic drinking bottles in exchange for points.

The main objectives were to increase recycling rates within the dormitory, improve waste segregation quality, and reduce the volume of recyclables entering general waste streams. A secondary goal was to raise environmental awareness among police officers and their families by integrating recycling into daily living spaces.

After installation, the dormitory gained a centralized, tidy collection point that reduced scattered recyclables in common areas and improved overall cleanliness. The data generated by the RVM (such as number of containers collected over time) can support future sustainability reporting and help management evaluate the effectiveness of recycling campaigns in police residential facilities
